Battery energy storage
Storage that earns, complies and lasts.
Battery energy storage systems for utilities, renewable plants and industry, designed around how your plant will be used and run with Loopgain EMS.
In one line
A battery energy storage system stores electricity when it is cheap or plentiful and delivers it when it is needed, so a plant can follow its schedule, use more renewable energy and support the grid.
What is inside a BESS
- Battery system — battery racks and their battery management system (BMS)
- Power conversion — PCS / inverters that connect DC batteries to the AC grid
- Grid connection — transformers, switchgear and protection
- Auxiliary systems — cooling, fire detection and suppression, auxiliary power
- Control — Loopgain EMS decides when to charge and discharge, within grid and battery limits

Utility scale
Grid-scale storage
Standalone storage for frequency support, ramp control and peak capacity on the grid.
For utilitiesSolar and wind plus storage
Hybrid renewable plants
Firm renewable output to a schedule, reduce deviation and curtailment, and shift energy to when it is needed.

The intelligence layer
A battery is only as good as its control.
Loopgain EMS forecasts, dispatches the battery within its limits, keeps the plant grid-compliant and records every action.
BESS: common questions
What is a battery energy storage system (BESS)?
A BESS stores electricity in batteries and releases it when needed. It combines battery racks with their battery management system, power conversion equipment that connects the batteries to the grid, transformers, protection and auxiliary systems, and an energy management system that decides when to charge and discharge.
What can a BESS be used for?
Common uses are storing solar or wind energy for later, firming renewable output to a schedule, reducing deviation from a committed schedule, peak shaving for industrial sites, backup for critical loads, and grid services such as frequency support and ramp control.
How is a BESS sized?
Sizing starts from what the storage must do: the power it must deliver (MW), for how long (hours, which gives MWh), how often it cycles, the grid connection limits and the expected life. Loopgain sizes the system from your site data and the way the plant is meant to earn.
What does Loopgain deliver in a BESS project?
Loopgain delivers the system end to end: discovery and sizing, system design, integration and testing of the equipment and controls, installation support and commissioning, and operation with Loopgain EMS, monitoring and maintenance.
